“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” This one was particularly full of fall leaves, cold mornings, and warm goodies. To keep up with my pie a week regiment, I knocked out three more before Halloween thanks to a few friends.
Mark’s parents came to visit our new place in Palo Alto over the weekend. We had a grand time and ate extremely well.
Fall is in full swing here in Palo Alto. Leaves are changing, Halloween decorations are popping up around the neighborhood, the air is crisp, especially in the morning. I had an exam for my class and have been listening to George Winston’s Linus & Lucy on repeat in my kitchen. It even rained last weekend a few times! All of this has put me in a pie making mood, so I present the next installment of a year of pies.
In New York I’ve found myself thinking about Chicago often. Perhaps it’s the urban environment or the City Year backpack I’ve been using. Maybe it’s the contrast of staying in hectic Times Square and not being able to pocket a subway map that have made me miss my quaint neighborhood and CTA routine. Last Saturday morning I fell in love with the Downtown Palo Alto Farmers Market. I woke up at 6:00, cleaned the kitchen, and took the blissful five minute bike ride to Gilman. What for? Fresh seasonal ingredients for our first Palo Alto dinner guests! Here’s the latest on a year of pies.
